Overview

The transition to Saham Bank was more than a rebranding; it was a mission to rival the world’s most innovative neo-banks. We were tasked with creating a "radically different" experience that would set a new standard in the Moroccan financial market. Role: Product Designer (UX/UI) The Design Engine: As the Product Designers, we were the architects of the experience. While collaborating with a PM and a UX Expert, we took full ownership of the logic, the flows, and the visual delivery. Scope: Native iOS & Android applications, full Bilingual/RTL support (French & Arabic), and a complete overhaul of the banking functional core. The Challenge

The primary hurdle was a relentless 3-month launch window for the MVP. We had to solve a complex architectural paradox: Strategic Prioritization: We re-engineered high-value "Hero" journeys from scratch (The Dashboard Hub, Transfers, Payments) while applying a cohesive visual "reskin" to lower-priority legacy flows to maintain a unified user experience. Harmonizing Stakeholders: We acted as the bridge between an ambitious corporate vision and the technical realities of legacy banking back-ends, ensuring every design choice was both innovative and production-ready. The Foundation: A Scalable Design System To meet the 3-month deadline without sacrificing quality, we built a comprehensive Design System that served as the "single source of truth" for both designers and developers. Engineering the Library: We didn't just use a library; we transformed an existing foundation into a custom, high-performance system. We established a rigorous hierarchy using Montserrat typography and a vibrant, daring color palette. Design Ops & Execution: We implemented a "Design-to-Dev" workflow that ensured pixel-perfect implementation for native iOS and Android. RTL-Native Logic: A major feat was building the system to natively support Right-to-Left (RTL) layouts for the Arabic version, ensuring that components mirrored correctly without breaking the user's mental model.

The design approach

We moved away from the rigid lists of traditional banking to create a fluid, digital-native "Product Board." The Masonry Dashboard: We introduced a first-of-its-kind grid layout. This modular "Pinterest-style" board displays accounts, cards, and loans as intuitive tiles, allowing for immediate financial oversight. The Smart Floating Button: To drive action, we added an intelligent floating button that surfaces "pending tasks" (like documents to sign), ensuring critical actions are never lost. Visual Strategy: We utilized a premium Dark Theme for the main master screens (Dashboard) to signify innovation, switching to a High-Clarity Light Theme for serious, complex flows like Transfers and Trading to ensure trust and legibility. Complex Digitalization: We overhauled the "Bourse" (Stock Market) journeys, turning complex securities management and IPO participations into simple, step-by-step mobile flows.

The Result

Award-Winning Excellence: The project was honored with the “Design & Expérience Utilisateur” award at the Fix The Future Digital CX Awards 2026, confirming our success in breaking traditional banking codes. Speed to Market: Initial native apps delivered and launched in only 90 days. Brand Transformation: The bold UI successfully positioned Saham Bank as a modern player, moving away from the "legacy bank" image. Scalable Foundation: The modular Design System we built allowed for a year of continuous evolution, seamlessly adding features like Travel/E-com Dotations post-launch.
